A massive group of cats that lived in the city, the city cats were most well known for their vast trading network, violent politics, and pride in their individuality and freedom. Any cat living in the city was considered a city cat, with cats rarely caring about specifics- if you lived in the city, you were a city cat. The most notable place within the city was the abandoned mall, a hub of trade and capitalism, the beating heart of the city. Prior to the Final Light, the mall would be packed with cats trying to trade and sell their wares, with unspoken rules that no blood would be shed within the mall.
The Colonies had a tense but fruitful relationship with them, their differences and past causing problems from time to time. The Colonies disliked how the City cats didn't believe in the Seasonal Gods, or how cats often fought and killed eachother over petty politics, while the City saw them as stuck up or old fashioned, and too tied up with religion and prayer. Despite their differences, the two groups traded supplies with eachother, and some colonies would even 'hire' cats to live and work for them during winter, offering a safe and warm place to live during the harsher seasons. Both groups considered eachother as allies and friends, but never truly trusted eachother.
Post-Final Light, the City's numbers have fallen drastically, but is still standing with large numbers thanks to sheer size alone. The abandoned mall is still used for trading, with cats populating the mall during the night and quickly packing up and leaving before dawn- nightmares flood the mall thanks to the activity and smell, and no cat wants to be caught in the mall when the sun rises. Surprisingly, the City has become more a more close-knit and less violent community, thanks to cats taking charge and organizing whoever was willing to help to rebuild and keep eachother safe. The City is still a dangerous place, with clickers and predators roaming freely without the guidance of the humans, but if you know the right cats, is a relatively safe place to live.
